About This Project
Clara Everleigh is an interactive, character-driven AI experiment that merges 19th-century theatrical storytelling with modern conversational intelligence. She is both persona and portal—a living proof of concept for blending narrative design, front-end architecture, and AI integration into a cohesive, emotionally aware web experience.
Concept
Clara was conceived as a fictional actress and diarist from 1843 London, built to demonstrate how technology can host empathy, history, and artistic context. Her world—Victorian stages, letters, and quiet lamplight—serves as a stage for testing narrative interfaces and contextual memory. Each page mirrors an element of her identity: her voice (chat), her biography, and her reflections.
Technical Design
- Front-end: Pure HTML, CSS, and vanilla JS—mobile-first, fully responsive, and free of frameworks for simplicity and transparency.
- Hosting: Vercel, static deployment. Modular navigation and global styling for easy maintenance.
- AI Layer: GPT-5 via OpenAI API, configured for contextual dialogue and historical tone.
- Integrations: Redis (Upstash) for persistent memory; Mailtrap and SendGrid for message logging; optional TTS for voice mode.
Purpose
This site functions as both a creative artifact and a technical résumé piece—showing the ability to build a functional, aesthetically coherent AI product from concept to deployment.
Future Enhancements
- Voice playback for diary entries using synthesized Victorian English tone.
- Automated weekly diary generation through scheduled API calls.
- Live analytics dashboard for engagement metrics.
